Cultural
Visits and Education in Barcelona
For over 15 years I
have specialized in quality cultural
visits in the city of Barcelona and
environs.
All visit options are
customized, responding to the interests and passions
of our clients, who are usually looking for something more than standard
city tours.
Many of those hiring
our services have a background in art, architecture or design, or are passionate
cultural tourists, and want to get the most of their time and budgets.
As a specialized
art critic and historian and design school teacher I am interested in making
visiting the city something more than a rehash of everyday guide books, and my
clients appreciate the way our visits raise questions and
stimulate discussion. I have also developed programs and material for
children.
Favourite visits
include a walking tour of Picasso-related sites in the city finishing at the
Picasso Museum, a visit to the Gothic Quarter with its Roman and medieval sites,
or an insight into the genius of Gaudí, usually including places like the
Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell and the Pedrera residential building.
We have also offered
walking tours looking at the political strife and urban conflict associated with
the Spanish Civil War, or have taken art lovers to see the new public sculpture
commissioned all over the city since the 1980s. New urban planning, artists
studios, young industrial and clothing designers--these are the kinds of
subjects I have been asked to take on. I have even done lectures on art and even
on food and art during high-quality gastronomic meals, something very
successful for larger groups.
Beyond customized
visits, we have developed on-site and practical programs in
art, design and architecture for visiting students and others interested
in a different way of experiencing Barcelona art and culture. Many of my clients
are visiting art or architecture school students, art collectors, or have
responsibilities in museums (many come from Denmark and Norway, from
England, from the US). I have also worked to complement programs of visiting
doctoral students in urban planning and geography.
I have standard tour ideas and fees, and they are reasonable and
competitive, but it is always best to mail me for more information on how to
arrange your specific, tailor-made program in Barcelona.
I can also be reached
on my Spain cell at 34 655 116 250.
